I congratulate AJN for its efforts to inform nurses on Medicare ("The Beginning of the End of Medicare," Editorial, and "The Top 10 Myths About Medicare,"Making Sense of Medicare, January).

Frankly, the compromise Medicare bill signed into law in late 2003 scares me because it's a possible first step toward the privatization of Medicare. The Editorial explained the negative outcomes of previous attempts at privatization, a message it's important to reinforce. Keep coaxing nurses to venture into the world of policy by inciting them to act and by providing them with information.
