NURSINg2003 SYMPOSIUM: THE CONFERNCE FOR CLINICAL EXCELLENCE

SPRINGHOUSE, PA (JANUARY 12, 2003) - The Nursing2003 Symposium will be held April 13-16, 2003, at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. Sponsored by Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, publisher of Nursing2003, the conference is the creation of a panel of nurse experts and is designed to provide attendees with new knowledge in core issues to help them excel in their practice and gain up to a maximum of 30.8 continuing-education hours.
All preregistered attendees will be entered in a drawing for free coach, round-trip airfare. The winner will be announced on the conference Web site, http://www.nursingsymposium.com and will receive a travel certificate by mail approximately 1 month prior to the conference.
The Nursing2003 Symposium is an educational meeting and exposition created specifically for DONs, RNs, LPNs, and other nurse generalists from an array of practice areas and settings.
This year's event is endorsed by the Academy of Medical-Surgical Nurses (AMSN), American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN), American Society of Peri-Anesthesia Nurses (ASPAN), Infusion Nurses Society (INS), and the National Association of Vascular Access Networks (NAVAN). The conference features 31/2 days of diverse session offerings and unopposed exhibit hours.
Nurses can attend preconference workshops for an intense and, in some cases, hands-on look at a variety of topics. This year's preconference offerings include a medical/surgical certification prep course, wound care and leadership workshops, a two-part session on working in a high acuity unit, and finally, an I.V. Certification Course. The faculty roster for Nursing2003 Symposium includes some of the top names in nursing education including Louis Benson, PhD, The Benson Group, Sharon Cox, RN, MSN, CNAA, Cox & Associates, Debra Townsend, RN, BSN, CCRN, Debra's Concepts of Care, Diane Uustal, RN, MS, EdD, Educational Resources in Healthcare, Inc., and Faith Bresnan Roberts, RN, BSN, CRRN, Carle Foundation Hospital, among others.
Breakout session topics include clinical issues such as pain management, wound care, respiratory and emergency management skills, diabetes, chemotherapy, moderate sedation, and sepsis. A mix of nonclinical sessions includes legal issues, stress management, team building, and self-care. Conference registrants also have a selection of progressive topics - animal-assisted therapy, pain management, and geriatrics. Nurses will also have the opportunity to earn continuing-education hours by viewing poster abstracts created by their peers. Abstracts, which are being accepted at this time, will be approved by the planning panel and displayed during exhibit hours. In addition to an intense educational roster, the Nursing2003 Symposium offers attendees a distraction from their rigorous schedules. This year's event will be hosted on a Walt Disney World property offering access to numerous theme parks, shops, and restaurants. A networking session will be held on Monday evening allowing participants to meet and greet colleagues, dine, and participate in a silent auction where all proceeds will benefit Nurses House. Finally, they'll have several opportunities to visit the exhibit hall to speak with numerous companies and organizations that impact their profession.
