Abstract
* Liraglutide, which was originally approved as the antidiabetic drug Victoza, has now also been approved for use as adjunctive therapy for weight loss under the trade name Saxenda. The daily dosage is larger when it's used for weight loss than when it's used to control type 2 diabetes.
* Saxenda may increase the risk of medullary thyroid carcinoma.
