That gives you, our readers, 6 issues annually, instead of 4. This change offers you an increase in the same kind of quality content you have come to expect from JTN, more opportunities for authors, timelier information, and assistance in playing an increasingly active role in informing the practice of trauma nursing.
In a time of change and economic challenge, many nursing organizations have struggled to maintain membership levels. The Society of Trauma Nurses has grown from 1370 members in 2010 to 1622 as of June 30, 2013. That is an 18% increase in membership over a 3-year period. An active, dynamic society requires an active, dynamic purveyor of information. Your editorial committee has strived to meet that challenge with your journal.
In addition to meeting the challenge of growing membership, JTN has expanded its influence by publishing quality, member-authored articles. In 2011, the number of online JTN article and Web site views was 104,617. In 2012, that had increased to 127,877. That means the worldwide exposure of your journal increased by 22% in 1 year. The Society of Trauma Nurses and its journal, the Journal of Trauma Nursing, is growing in its influence on the care of the injured around the globe.
