VIOLENCE, HOSTILITY, bullying, or aggression, perpetrated by a peer or any other coworker, is all too common in the healthcare industry. It impedes healthy communication between healthcare workers, endangers patient safety, and poisons the workplace environment.
The phenomenon of bullying at work has been well described in the literature, and many organizations are implementing initiatives to address this behavior.1-4 Successful outcomes depend on first determining how much bullying is going on, then tracking responses to antibullying initiatives to see if they make any difference.
