Louisiana CE Requirements for License Renewal
As a nurse in the state of Louisiana, you are required to earn continuing education to renew your active license. All of our CE activities are accredited by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).
Renewal Requirements
RN
- Every two years
- A minimum of 30 hours or 900 practice hours
Advanced Practice
- Every renewak period for APRNs without national certification:
- 30 hours at the advanced level and directly related to the full scope of the advanced practice role and population focus for APRN whose role and population focus does not provide for certification/recertification
- 6 hours annually (12 hours every renewal period) in pharmacotherapeutics for APRN with prescriptive authority
- One time for APRNs with Controlled Substance Authority
- 3 hours on drug diversion training, best practice prescribing of controlled substances, appropriate treatment for addiction and other matters regarding the prescribing of controlled dangerous substances
- APRNs who are nationally board certified meet the renewal requirements for their Louisiana RN license by holding an approved certification.
