I am honored to have been given this opportunity to serve as the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Geriatric Physical Therapy (JGPT) for the next three years. Thanks to the outstanding work of outgoing editor Dr. Richard Bohannon and the Assistant Editors, I inherit a strong publication well-positioned for continued development and success. During his most recent (second!) 5-year term as Editor-in-Chief, Richard Bohannon directed the JGPT through numerous positive changes, oversaw substantial growth in the number of submissions, and attained a significant rise in impact factor. He has dedicated an enormous amount of time and effort to producing a journal that is both scientifically rigorous and clinically relevant, a difficult balance to strike. I thank him for his immensely valuable contribution to the JGPT, and am pleased he will remain on the Editorial Board to provide continued guidance as I 'learn the ropes.'
I am grateful for the confidence placed in me by the Search Committee and for the support from the Academy of Geriatric Physical Therapy Board of Directors. In collaboration with the JGPT team of Associate Editors, I will work to make the JGPT a scientifically sound, academically useful, and clinically applicable journal that you look forward to reading each quarter.
Respectfully,
-Leslie Allison, PT, PhD
