Eleven years ago, Jean Proehl and I launched a new journal, the Advanced Emergency Nursing Journal (AENJ). Our goal was to present information of special interest to advanced practice registered nurses (APRNs), educators, and other advanced practice clinicians in emergency care.

I would like to offer a tribute to Jean Proehl who has decided to step down as Co-Editor of the Journal. Ms. Proehl's role as Co-Editor regarding the Journal and her impact on emergency nursing are immeasurable. We have all valued Jean's mentorship. She has been an astounding Co-Editor and a driving force for APRNs in emergency care. She has nurtured many aspiring writers to publish. We are honored that she chose to work with AENJ.

In addition to the current columns, Research to Practice, Imaging, Applied Pharmacology, and Cases of Note, I will add two new columns this year, namely, Procedures and Dermatology. And, there will be continuing education contact hours (CECH) offered twice instead of once in each issue.

We eagerly anticipate our community of advanced practice emergency nurses sharing of their innovative approaches to practice along with their knowledge and experience by writing and publishing in AENJ. We would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our authors, reviewers, and the production staff for their efforts and diligence in preparing these issues.

We look forward to reviewing future manuscripts from advanced practice emergency nurses. Our time is now.... Let AENJ be the vehicle for your education and for your voice!
