This month's Nursing Counts addresses the nursing care of older adults in the community. Data collected for the Medical Expenditure Panel Survey (MEPS) indicate that many older adults are cared for by nurses and nurse practitioners in ambulatory care settings, yet the data collected in these settings do not adequately assess the care provided to this population.

Highlighted are two innovative, community-based models that help older adults remain in the community for as long as possible, in part by providing services and working with existing community resources. -Malvina Kluger
