Abstract
A recent study showed that 42 percent of partners of young breast cancer survivors have anxiety, even several years after their partner was diagnosed with cancer (Abstract 184). Also, partners who used maladaptive coping strategies were more than twice as likely to report anxiety. Maladaptive coping strategies included withdrawing from others, drinking more, blaming others, and becoming agitated or aggressive. The results were reported at the 2017 Cancer Survivorship Symposium.
