Abstract
Delegation and coordination of patient care is an important role for registered nurses practicing in hospitals. Educational programs and clinical experience have not prepared most registered nurses to function in the delegation decision-making role. The author describes how the use of the Nursing Assessment Decision Grid increased the knowledge base in delegation decision-making skills for medical/surgical nurses practicing in a 282-bed tertiary hospital in Central Alabama.
