Abstract

Children with phenylketonuria born in countries that do not perform neonatal screening may present to pediatric clinics in the United States with developmental delay and hyperactivity. This case study describes presenting features and the complexities of placing a previously untreated foreign-born child with phenylketonuria on a restricted diet.
