Can a nursing administrator ethically demand to see a nurse's school transcripts? The director of nursing (DON) at our community hospital recently asked RNs and LPNs for copies of school transcripts because she's concerned about fraud. Can she do this ?—E.M., N.Y.

Sounds to me as if she already has.

But I'm wondering why your DON wants this information. If she questions the validity of a nurse's license, she should check with the state board ...
