[black small square] Nurses are human and can suffer from burnout like anyone else. Although most of us love what we do, some of us aren't happy anymore and need a change. Instead of leaving the profession, though, I suggest exploring another area of nursing.

After 16 years of critical care nursing, I became a pediatric nurse and discovered another side of nursing as I cared for culturally diverse children and their families. Today I care for veterans in an ambulatory care clinic on a military base, and I love it.

I'm continuing my education, and I hope to obtain a school nurse certificate. I truly believe you can always have a future in nursing. Empower yourself through education and networking.
