OBJECTIVES

The objectives of this study were the following:

1. To review the many different presentations of mycosis fungoides, the most common form of cutaneous T-cell lymphoma (CTCL), and their treatments.

2. To describe the concept of a multicentered, multidisciplinary team when treating patients with the relatively rare disease.

3. To discuss the role of the nurse in this clinic.

INTRODUCTION

This informational poster was created to educate our CTCL patients. The poster reviews the many different presentations of mycosis fungoides, the most common form of CTCL. We describe the coordination of care through our multicentered, multidisciplinary team of CTCL experts. Also outlined is the key role the nurse plays in the success of the clinic by providing education, support, treatment, and organization for these patients.

CONCLUSION

The CTCL clinic has improved patient care for this relatively rare disease by providing ongoing follow-up and navigation through a dedicated network of care providers who understand the complexity of this disease.

NURSING IMPLICATIONS

The nurses have the ability to take a leadership role in enhancing patient care by observing and initiating specialty areas of care that fill gaps in the healthcare system.
