What can employers do to entice experienced nurses to stay at the bedside? A study sponsored by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation found that healthcare organizations can lower turnover rates for veteran nurses with innovative policies designed to improve morale and productivity.

'Wisdom at Work: Retaining Experienced Nurses' is based on 7 in-depth case studies and 13 separate research projects conducted at participating healthcare facilities from January 2007 to December 2008. The estimated cost to replace a full-time RN at these 13 facilities was more than $36,500.
