Abstract

Nurses who recently visited our Web site answered this question: Are preoperative antibiotics administered within 1 hour of surgical incision at your facility? Here's how they responded.

Under guidelines from the Surgical Care Improvement Project (SCIP), prophylactic antibiotics (except vancomycin and fluoroquinolones) should be administered within 1 hour prior to incision. Visit http://www.nursingcenter.com/poll to answer our monthly survey question and view results from other surveys.
