Abstract

 A SUPRAPUBIC CATHETER may be used temporarily or long-term to drain the bladder when urethral diversion is needed; for instance, because of urethral stricture or trauma, or after gynecologic or urethral surgery. It's inserted percutaneously above the symphysis pubis into the bladder.
