Abstract

The other day I saw a nurse start to connect I.V. piggyback tubing to the main I.V. tubing without cleaning the port with alcohol first. She thought she didn't need to use alcohol because she was using a needleless system. I want to remind nurses that we need to clean with alcohol before we access any I.V. tubing with a needle or needleless system.
