When I worked for a hospital, RNs never took telephone orders except when speaking directly to the prescriber. As a fairly new home health care nurse, I now see colleagues taking telephone orders that may have gone through several people before being written down. The chain might include the office nurse, the field nurse, the intake nurse, and pharmacy staff. This practice seems quite dangerous to me. Do the laws differ for home health care?
