Abstract

Naturopathic medicine is a comprehensive approach to healthcare that uses natural substances and treatments to support and stimulate the body's healing ability. In the case of Alzheimer's disease, there are many therapeutic options, particularly in the nutrition, botanical medicine, and traditional Asian medicine modalities. Not only can naturopathic doctors offer support for cognitive function but they may also be able to increase medication efficacy to give a person with Alzheimer's disease a better opportunity for maximal cognitive health. The hope is that naturopathic doctors can become part of Alzheimer's disease care teams, as their unique view of health and disease could give the team a more rounded view of the person with Alzheimer's disease as an individual.
