Joan Lynaugh, RN, PhD, FAAN, professor emeritus of nursing at University of Pennsylvania, was named a "Living Legend" by the American Academy of Nursing. Also at Penn, Sarah Hope Kagan, associate professor of gerontological nursing, became the 2005 recipient of Sigma Theta Tau International's Marie Hippensteel Lingeman Award for Excellence in Nursing Practice.

 

Linda H. Aiken, RN, PhD, FAAN, FRCN, garnered the AcademyHealth Distinguished Investigator Award for her contributions to the field of health service research and nursing.

 

The National Council of State Boards of Nursing recently recognized its outstanding members. Barbara Morvant, RN, MN, executive officer of the Louisiana State Board of Nursing, won the R. Louise McManus Award. Marcia Hobbs, RN, DSN, board member of the Kentucky Board of Nursing, won the Meritorious Achievement Award. Robin Vogt, RN, PhD, FNP-C, recent past president of the Missouri Board of Nursing, won the Exceptional Leadership Award.
