The Villanova College of Nursing, in Villanova, Pennsylvania, was one of three winners of the inaugural NLN Centers of Excellence in Nursing Education awards. This three-year designation is conferred on nursing schools meeting criteria demonstrating excellence in faculty development, research into nursing education, or student learning and professional development. The other two nursing schools honored for "creating environments that promote student learning and professional development" were the Community College of Philadelphia and the University of South Dakota at Vermillion. The awards were presented on October 1.
