The 6th edition Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) resuscitation flow diagram that appeared as Figure 2 on page 48 in the February 2011 issue of Advances in Neonatal Care, in the article titled "Neonatal Resuscitation Program 2011: New Science, New Strategies" has since been revised by the American Academy of Pediatrics.

 

The NRP Steering Committee has now revised the 6th edition flow diagram by removing the curved arrow and its word "No", and replacing it with a double-headed arrow connecting the "HR below 60" diamond and the "Take ventilation corrective steps" action box.

 

We regret any confusion this has caused. The updated flow diagram, pictured below and reprinted with permission by the American Academy of Pediatrics, will be included in all 6th edition NRP materials. The American Academy of Pediatrics is also notifying all NRP instructors of this error and correcting the flow diagram published October 18, 2010 in Pediatrics online:
