The money and time spent on the week-long celebration of nurses could instead provide continuing staff education.

Nurses need to command more respect-from ourselves, from physicians, and from management. Our patients sometimes afford us the respect we deserve after a long and tiring shift by the bedside, and it's those times that I carry in my heart each day.
